home again, home again...

We flew back from New Zealand on Sunday *cries* It was lovely to be home again (particularly to pick up the pusscats), but we're sad that our holiday is officially over and we're back to reality.

Time for one last cinnamon-topped cappuccino in Dunedin - enjoying this book very much!

Koru lounge, Christchurch airport - heading home

Some essential take-home goodies from NZ!

V and I have this week off work also, returning next Monday, so have been very much enjoying relaxing, letting the holiday vibe continue as much as possible

After nearly 3 weeks away from home, breakfast at lee&me was an absolute necessity on our first morning home!

Yummy granola with fruit salad and yoghurt...

V celebrated our return by bringing home a bunch of hydrangea for me, yay!

They make a pretty centrepiece...

I am still traumatised by Tuesday's horribly hot weather - 43degrees, wtf? The RFS catastrophic-fire-danger warning text was a bit scary! Much homemade lemonade was consumed

Jade did not cope with the extreme heatwave-like conditions - her solution was to hide her face and play dead on the bed

Jasper found the whole situation rather amusing...

Something cool and uncomplicated was called for at lunchtime - salad inspired by the lovely Heidi!

As it was clearly too hot to cook, we headed out for dinner with the inlaws, somewhere nice and delicious and airconditioned - giving my new Nicola Finetti LBD an outing!

Friends of ours upgraded their lounge suite recently, and were looking to get rid of this less-than-a-year-old, chocolate leather beauty. We snapped it up! Sooooo comfortable. Love!

To celebrate the cool change, I made a slow-cooked white bean and vegetable chilli for dinner tonight - you can find the recipe here! (I tweaked it slightly and added a tin of chopped tomatoes and some paprika)

How has the week been treating you all?
xoxo

  3. Cate the photos of your kitties always make me laugh. They seem to have gorgeous little personalities.

I'm suffering end-of-holiday / return-to-work blues too. Need to plan another get away to look forward to.

I think our cats must be thinking "if I hide my face maybe I'll disappear and go somewhere cooler" hehe x

  8. Your cats are so funny! And I love how your soup almost matches the photo of the recipe! I think it's just a positive reflection of both your cooking and the original recipe :)
