finally friday...

I was in Sydney for work today - hello, early start and train rides galore!

This is what it looked like at the train station at 6:30am - dark!

Wheely bag = ballet flats!

I always run really early when I travel to the CBD (can't rely on CityRail!) so I had time to grab something to eat. Given the early start, I felt I deserved a treat for breakfast - a croissant at the Lindt cafe fit the bill perfectly

Ohhhhh the caffeinated goodness of a Lindt cafe cappuccino - topped with Lindt chocolate flakes *drool*

Did my thang in Court, rushed back to the office and had some urgent work to get done - which involved copying literally reams and reams of paper. Law is not the most environmentally-friendly of the professions unfortunately!

Say hello to my leetle friend - okay, so he's not so little. He's big and ugly and likes to break down frequently. Lets just say our work relationship this afternoon was fraught with meltdowns and tantrums (and not from me!)

Since my last meal was my early-morning Lindt cafe croissant, I nommed on some bikkies and an instant as I worked - oh, the humanity

When I finally got home from work tonight, V had beat me there, and found this adorable little sweetie in the garden...

Hello, baby bluetongue!
"O hai! I be a very, very scary monster!"

"Raaaaaaawwwrrr! Monster, I tells you!"
Seriously, the cuteness, I die

While I was in Sydney today, I decided I reeeeeally needed to get my a into g and buy myself a 2011 diary (I know, its March already!) I grabbed a lovely petrol-blue organiser from kikki_k, half-price, bonus!

I think Jade has hit the wall... batteries clearly need a recharge! I can empathise

Happy Friday! Hope you all have lovely, relaxing weekends planned!

the week that was...

This week seemed unnaturally long - many things happened, maybe that's why...

Shoes were purchased - reduced from $89.95 to $49.95. And then a gift voucher was used. Total cost to me = $0. Score!

Many nom-ilicious salads were eaten - this one is pan-grilled haloumi on mixed leaves with nectarines and a balsamic vinaigrette...

And almond magnums were consumed...

V sustained some kick-ass bruises at work! (PS: loving the guns!)

Jade says hai! from the depths of a food-coma...

I had a bit of a killer week at work - in the bad sense unfortunately. The tipping point was a rather interesting phonecall on Thursday from the psychologist of a client - don't think I've ever heard the work "fuck" used so many times in the space of 10 minutes! I came out of that one shaking. So I decided to console myself with a little bit of soothing nailpolish shopping in my lunchbreak...

And THIS is Quarter of a Cent-Cherry in action - nice deep burgundy-red shade, love!

Today we went out for brekky to celebrate the weekend, Cate&V and lee&me style!

Slightly bemused expression - quit pointing that camera at mah face!

Mmmmmm granola-ish goodness - the natural greek yoghurt sweetened with just a little honey is the best!

V got creative and had the roll...

This little tunic-dress style arrangement was picked up in the sales also - anything gray and drape-y gets my vote, and as for the pockets, I die!

Country Road silk shift dress
Eleventh Commandment tunic
Tony Bianco sandals
Cotton On sunglasses
Jag bag and Oroton silk scarf

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend!

the coalface, local-style...

And so begins my second week in the local office of the Coalface (to use FauxFuchsia's phrase) - I like to refer to this office as the Wollongong Coalface, which makes me laugh because we have lots of that particular industry in this region.

I have had a reader ask me what I consider appropriate office wear, as a lawyer, that is still stylish - this is one of my absolute favourite suits. I think it is very stylish and feminine, whilst still being professional and work-appropriate. I love the tailoring and the cute little buttons and frill details.

I also love pairing a suit with a soft, unstructured top as opposed to a collared shirt.

When I was grabbing my morning coffee today on the way to work, a woman in the cafe told me she loved my suit and that it was "very Chanel" - stoked!

Review "The Waldorf" suit
Fate black ruffled top
Tony Bianco heels
White gold and diamond necklace (from local jeweller)
Tiffany&Co rings

This is one of my favourite necklaces - its the first piece of jewellery that V ever gave me and I absolutely treasure it. He had it made specially - the two halves of the heart open up and inside there is a teeny heart with "I love you" engraved on it. Nawwwwww!

The view from my window - so pretty! I love being able to see trees and greenery and a sky clear and free of city smog.

Heeey, gorgeous lady! I adore Audrey, she is my idol. My brother gave me this compact for my birthday last month, I love it so much.

Arty shot - 'scuse my messy desk in the background!

my little corner of the coalface...

Well I finally appear to have shaken off the worst of my virus, and am starting to feel human again. To celebrate my first day back at work (or the coalface, in the words of the lovely FauxFuchsia), I thought I would share a few shots of my day today...

I travelled up to work with my Dad today - he was lecturing at the Hospital, and I love riding up in the car instead of roughing it on the train. We always have breakfast together too...

BEST fruit salad with toasted granola, natural yoghurt and honey, mmm...

At the coalface - one of just many coffees for the day!

My desk!

The view from my window - pretty gorgeous!

Reflection self-portrait...

I am a major tea snob and cannot handle the blergh Liptons teabags provided at work - I need my Twinings Irish Breakfast! (and my kitten mug)

Obligatory outfit shots! (it was casual Friday today)

 MinkPink skirt
 Country road tee
 Tony Bianco ballet flats
 Bow necklace from etsy

Happy Friday!
