they say bad things come in threes...

Well, here's hoping we've had our share, for the moment at least!

I know I've been completely MIA the past few weeks, I feel like such a terrible blogger! In my defence, things have been a little hectic in the KittyCate household, and not exactly conducive to blogging, unfortunately. In the past fortnight, we have had:

one husband made redundant (and not protected by the provisions of the Fair Work Act)
one (very fancy) cross-country bike stolen from the garage
one precious laptop kaput

Is that it for us now, please dear Universe? Can you please go and crap all over someone else, just for a little while? Kthxbai

I'm pleased and proud to report that V hasn't taken the redundancy sitting down, and has spent the past week out there engaged in various courses and obtaining certifications to make himself as employable as possible - and there are a couple of things in the pipeline, so cross your fingers for him, ladies and gents of Blogland!

The bike is, thank goodness, insured and will be replaced as soon as the claim is processed.

The laptop, sadly, isn't doing so well - the hard drive has completely died, and needs replacing. So precious laptop is in for repairs at the moment, and I hope to have him back within the week. And bring on the blogging once more! I have loadsa photos to share with you all, but no way to get them onto the net as of this present moment - soon, my pretties, soon...

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!
xoxo

  3. I too am convinced bad stuff happens in threes. We have had similar experiences as a couple and I tell you what it just seems to make the relationship even stronger going through random setbacks!

I hope everything works out okay for you and your hubby :-)

  4. Aw hun, that is a bad run indeed. My husband was made redundant recently too, but ended up getting a better job eventually. I hope everything works out for your husband too - sounds like he's doing all the right things. Take care :)

  7. I've missed you and your lovely blog! Such terrible luck. Good news the bike is insured! I fear that happening to my laptop - I must back up more often. V sounds like a rock star, good on him. I'm sure sunshine and luck and happiness is just around the corner for you.

  8. Oh - poor Kitty Cate! I'm sorry to hear about your woes. Hope everything gets better in the future. To steal a Julia-ism, Moving Forward I'm sure everything will be fabulous for you...

And the person who stole the bike, well, Karma will take care of them.

  10. So sorry that you and Mr KittyCate have had a bad fortnight :(
I am glad the bike is insured, but doesn't take away the uneasiness of a break-in.
Horrible news about the redundancy. Best wishes to him for the job search - he seems like a go-getter.
And I hope your laptop is on the mend.
I miss your blog entries and photos. Your relaxing weekends make me feel relaxed.

  12. that reeks!!
    Thinking positive for V.
    I hate theft.
    It is so off.
    Just disgusting.
Hope your laptop turns out as well!
It's very stressful when computers die.
Especially if precious memories were on there.

Lets hope all good things for you and V now!

  17. Fingers crossed for your hubby finding something else soon! If it helps, my hubby found work after less than a month of looking when we arrived back from London. I'm sure it will all work out. And also, yay for insurance! Can't wait to see the new photos.

  18. Hope everything works out quickly for V. Howie was made redundant a couple of months ago. But since we'd already booked everything including his annual leave for this holiday, we will hit reality next week when we get home and he has no job :s Hopefully something for both of them soon.

    Hope laptop is revived successfully.

  19. Long time lurker but first time poster on your blog. Sorry to hear about what's been happening lately but thought I'd post and commiserate with your loss of computer as the hard drive on my one year old laptop just died and I've had to have it replaced, losing just about everything on it (including precious family holiday photos - didn't back up...rookie mistake). Sending you best wishes for everything!

Hope everything works itself out quickly! Sending positive thoughts and looking forward to seeing your lovely posts again soon!

  22. Wow, you have had a bad run of late. There must be something in the air in Wollongong, giving people bad luck.
Hope things go well on the job front for V, and hope your laptop is fixed in no time (I love looking at your photos), and hope you get a new bike back soon!!!

Here's to hoping things start looking up for you and V.

    xx

  23. Oh noes! so very sorry to hear that things have not been going so well but I am a firm believer that things have a way of working out. These things do suck but hey at the end of the day, you and your hubby have each other and life's dips will make you stronger. My fingers and toes are crossed for you. Xx
