hello, weekend, my old friend...

Last week was absolutely killer, in the worst possible way. Work was insane, and I had to be up in Sydney twice - hello train-time! And Starbucks!

Here...

And again, here...

Which is usually quite fun, but not when I'm so busy I just want to lock myself in the office and take my phone off the hook! Added to that, I have been battling a horrible throat and sinus infection - icky. I think I consumed my body weight in caffeinated beverages to get through the week

Needless to say, by the time Friday evening arrived, all I wanted to do was curl up on the couch in my pj's, watching trashing tv and quietly dying. But V was keen to go out for dinner and a movie, and I buckled in the face of his enthusiasm (and the promise of copious amounts of Maltesers)

We meandered over to one of our favourite Wollongong watering holes, Swell cafe. The proprietor, Mike, roasts his own fair trade coffee beans and makes a mean brew, and has now added Friday-evening antipasto to his repertoire! Highly recommend

We relaxed outside...

And ate lots of yummy antipasto goodies, and drank lemon lime & bitters. A liquor license is in the works, and expected very soon - stay posted!

And then we went and saw Adjustment Bureau, which is based on a Philip K Dick short story (V and I are massive fans of his writing) - it was good, but a little too Hollywood romance for our taste. We had been expecting something much more sci-fi, in line with the original story

This morning, we embraced the cooler weather with several giant coffees and breakfast at lee&me, then wandered around the shops...

Eggs benedict

Croque monsieur (had fun teaching V and the waitress how to pronounce this)

I snared this dress from a Supre outlet store last week - its miles too big for me, but I love the colour and cut, and for $5, I wasn't complaining!

Belted in, and knotted up, I think it works

The dress is actually a lovely shade of navy blue - completely ruined by the killer combination of my dodgy camera and Blogger...

  3. I'm looking forward to The Adjustment Bureau too. I'm a big fan of Emily Blunt. I had no idea it was a book/short story so will definitely have to check that out. But maybe after I see the movie. Great dress! And definitely works cinched in with a belt.

I hope you are feeling better. Travel takes it out of you.

I saw The Adjustment Bureau too. I enjoyed it, but thought it was a little tedious.

  9. I love that nail polish! I was sad to have to take it off after two days. I can't get away with wearing anything but clear/nude to work.

  10. Hope you're feeling better lovely! Love the dress on you, what a bargain :) As silly as this sounds it's almost become part of my weekend routine to read about what you had at lee&me, I almost want to visit your town so I can go there. It always looks so good :)

  11. I saw The Adjustment Bureau on the weekend and quite liked it, although I know what you mean about the romance.

I think the dish they're calling Croque Monsieur at your cafe is actually Croque Madame, or Croque a la cheval (ie ham and gruyere cheese served with an egg on top)...Croque Monsier is pretty much just an awsome ham and cheese toastie!

  12. Sounds like a lovely, recuperative weekend after a struggle-town week. I was battling a throat infection too. Guh! Not fun. Curling up on the couch on the weekend with trashy tv or BBC Jane Austen movies is the best way to get through it :) Hope you're all better now!
