This morning, we woke up early and craving pancakes. Well, I was craving pancakes, and E thinks it's a pretty ace word to say, so all the signs pointed to us mixing up a batch for breakfast...
I use the recipe my mum always used (still does!) - one egg, one cup SR flour, 3/4 cup of milk.
Cooked in butter of course...
Anything that this one eats before strawberries, you know she is enjoying.
Current obsessions - socks, the alphabet and jigsaw puzzles. She scares me a little bit, the way she can recognise some letters (S is shoes!), and can get most of them in the correct order.
The gorgeous weather was calling us, so we headed out for a few hours to the botanic gardens, to feed the ducks and play at the park (my sincere apologies for the depressing balcony view haha.)
So much fun at the gardens, enjoying some autumn sunshine. My little explorer (although she did get us lost in the maze heh.)
Totally not her bucket and spade. The toy I brought, she wasn't interested in, naturally. Luckily there's a fairly good barter system in operation at our local parks - what one kid wants, another will be over. Hence E sniped some kid's sand toys, while another one ran off with her ball. Win/win.
Popped this bad boy in the slow cooker before we left the house this morning. I use the lovely Merowyn's Crazy Delicious Lamb Shoulder recipe, check it out you won't regret it! http://food52.com/recipes/35523-crazy-delicious-harissa-lamb-shoulder
Currently enjoying some quiet time while the small human has a nap, hoping for a relaxing afternoon (my bet is more jigsaws will be involved.)
xoxo
Don't you love those quiet times to ourselves when the little ones are asleep?
ReplyDeleteI spend mine a little like how you do!
SSG xxx
It is the absolute best! Just what is needed to recharge the batteries I think xx
DeleteI can't believe you posted that awful balcony view :-P :-P
ReplyDeleteVery keen to try the harissa lamb! Perhaps as a welcome back meal for S.
I know I'm so awful :D
DeleteDef try the lamb Hun it is insanely good! xx
That lamb sounds delicious! Do you need to adjust the recipe at all for the slow cooker? (I've never attempted one in mine!)
ReplyDeleteI just put mine in the slow cooker on high for around 8 hours, it should be falling apart. I was dubious at the first attempt but it worked well xx
DeleteHusband does butterflied lamb shoulder on the bbq when we have guest over otherwise it is too much meat.
ReplyDeleteI am onto fancy pancakes like Clinton St bakery ones. Once you go that one you might not go back! :)
Ooh fancy pancakes are always a winner with me! :)
DeleteYeah I tend to get half a shoulder, but the leftovers are pretty good too xx
Do you put the lamb in the oven after the slow cooker to brown up?
ReplyDeleteI have one cooking as we speak!
Thanks
Tammy
Hey Tammy, I don't find it needs it, it goes all deliciously moist and falling apart, it's so good xx
