keeping it simple - 5 second skincare...

Well, not quite 5 seconds - but close enough! When it comes to skincare, I've found that the more basic and pared-back I keep it, the better my skin is - simple is key! I thought I would share my current skin regime, and what is working for me right now

am:

I don't use a cleanser in the morning, I simply rinse my face with warm water, and follow with moisturiser - if I'm going to be out in the sun I will use a Cancer Council SPF30+ sunscreen, but otherwise I go for a nice moisturiser with an SPF 15 or so

I am currently in love with Khiels ultra facial moisturiser - its lovely and gentle on my sensitive skin, and it has SPF 15, which is super-important to me. You all know how pale am I, and I like it that way!

I am rethinking the Khiels moisturiser for next summer, as the lovely SkekTek was kind enough to have a look at the active ingredients of this stuff for me, and apparently it only shields me from UVB and not UVA rays! So once I've used up my current bottle, I'm on the market for a new SPF day cream - open to suggestions y'all!

pm:

I have recently jumped on the oil cleansing method bandwagon, and I am LOVING it! I have been using Moogoo cleansing oil for dry skin, which is a lovely mixture of cleansing and nourishing oils. It leaves my skin gently cleansed, and lovely and soft

Yes, yes, I know I rabbit on about this stuff ad nauseum, but its the BOMB people, seriously! Throughout summer, I've been using Trilogy rose hip oil as a moisturiser on its own, smoothed over damp skin every night. Come winter, I will use it under a heavier moisturiser

And that's it - easy! Does anyone else embrace simple skincare?

  1. I think I'd give that Khiels moisturizer a whirl.. I uses AESOP at the moment but maybe the Khiels would be good during the day w/ the SPF :) :) :)

  4. I swear by a retinol night cream! I use it daily and it is great for congestion and to smooth out skin. That is the one product I cannot live without. Also just discovered a glycolic scrub that my beautician recommends, it smooths the skin so well! However, I have completely different skin type to you- mine is combination and very moody haha

  7. Yeh I'm absolutely a simple skincare gal, I use an Antipodes cream cleanser and moisturiser and that's about it oh and badger lip balm <3. I'm trying to find a sunscreen I like but want one that is physical rather than chemical.

  8. I'd love to simplify my regime like this, and to try the OCM. Your skin is stunning if that isn't motivation enough! But my skin isn't bad at the moment so I'm loathe to try anything new. If it ain't broke...

  12. Ahoy! Thanks for the shout ;)

I picked up the l'occitane immortelle moistuiser in Singapore last week and it's divine (SPF 40/PA +++ by Asian standards) and it saved my skin on a hike in indochina. After a chilly trek the day before the sun came out in full force and fried us like bacon, but my face was burn free. If it can protect my pale skin at an altitude of 1600m all day (while I'm on antimalarials!) then it's pretty good stuff. If you're on the prowl for a new SPF moisturizer I highly recommend sourcing some samples.
